ExxonMobil eager to bring LNG supplies to Pakistan

Islamabad: ExxonMobil LNG Market Development, Chairwoman, Emma Cochrane, has said that Pakistan was a key strategic market for ExxonMobil and the company was eager to bring LNG supplies to fuel the country’s strong projected growth, says a press release.

Whilst delivering her speech on LNG Market Development, during GEO, Board of Investment Conference at Serena Hotel, Islamabad, she traced the company’s history in Pakistan back to the 1950s, when the company explored for oil in Pakistan, producing partnerships such as Pakistan Refinery Limited, the discovery of the Mari field, and the Esso Pakistan Fertilizer Company. She announced ExxonMobil’s newest long-term opportunity in Pakistan with the signing of a heads of agreement with Pakistani consortium Energas (sponsored by the Yonus Brothers Group, Sapphire Group and Mian Karim (owner of Halmore Power Generation Company) to support the development of Pakistan’s first private LNG terminal, and to bring up to 1 billion cubic feet per day (BCFD) of new supplies of LNG to Pakistan.

The heads of agreement is an important milestone for ExxonMobil and Pakistan, which will help meet the country’s energy needs and drive economic growth by

providing a reliable supply of cleaner-burning natural gas to Pakistan.
