Five suspected terrorists were killed in two encounters with police and Rangers on Friday.
An alleged Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan Swat group militant, Hanif Yousuf Swati, involved in killing policemen and others, was killed in a shootout with the West Zone police in the wee hours of the day. SSP Azfar Maheser said an accomplice of Swati was injured in the encounter but he had managed to escape.
The official added that the militant was responsible for the murder of constables Ashfaq, Taj Muhammad, Aurangzeb and Munir, traffic policeman Ahmed Ali and sub-inspector Piyaro.

Four ‘militants’ killed
Four alleged militants were killed by Rangers near Abbas Morr in Gulshan-e-Maymar in the afternoon.
DIG West Capt. (retd) Tahir Naveed said the Rangers Bhittai wing had killed four armed militants following an attack on a bus carrying Special Security Unit personnel earlier in the day.
Two SSU commandos were killed and 11 injured when a bomb planted on a motorcycle had detonated near their bus. The official said the four men had not been identified so far.
