IGFC assures traders of solving their problems

LANDIKOTAL: Inspector General of Frontier Corps (IGFC) Major General Muhammad Wasim Ashraf on Thursday met a joint jirga of tribal elders and Torkham customs clearing agents.

It was the second visit of the IGFC to Landikotal during the past one week during which he discussed various issues with the traders.

Khyber Agency Political Agent Islam Zeb, Assistant Political Agent of Landikotal Niaz Muhammad, tehsildar Shamsul Islam, and passport officer Torkham Tehseenullah also accompanied the IGFC.

Speaking to the combined Jirga of local elders and customs clearing agents at Landikotal army garrison, Maj-Gen Muhammad Wasim Ashraf said that the government wanted to increase business activities at Torkham border. He informed the jirga members that development work on the Torkham border terminal was in full -swing.

The IGFC said the government would provide every possible trade and business facility to businessmen to enhance import and export with Afghanistan and Central Asian Republics via Torkham border. He said several government departments were working in respective domains to benefit the local traders and transporters carrying goods to Afghanistan.

Gen Ashraf directed the Frontier Corps officials in Landikotal to respect the passengers coming from Afghanistan and take political administration and local elders on board while taking any steps in Landikotal.

He also lauded the civil government efforts and the Shinwari, Shalmanis and Zakhakhel tribespeople’s sacrifices for the durable peace in the area. He said that the peace was restored due to the sacrifices of civilians and the security forces.

The IGFC said all the unnecessary checkposts and checking points along the Karkhano-Torkham road had already been abolished.

Maj-Gen Wasim Ashraf said that the political administration and Frontier Corps would jointly work for the promotion of business and trade activities in Landikotal and Torkham border bazaars.
