Three extortionists arrested

Islamabad: Sabzi Mandi Police Station has arrested three persons for extorting money from public transporters, the police spokesman said.

Upon getting information, a team of Sabzi Mandi police station headed by Sub-Inspector Muhammad Basheer reached Sector I-10 and found some persons extorting money from the drivers of public transport vehicles of inter-city and outer city routes. They have been identified as Shehzad, Nadeem and Muneer while police also recovered extorted money Rs8,500 from them. They confessed to extort Rs150 from each vehicle after blocking roads and further investigation is underway from them.

Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Amjad Hussain arrested Safeer and Atta for having a total of 657 gram heroin while ASI Shan Muhammad nabbed two thieves, Saif and Hafeez. Industrial Area police officials arrested Hamza, Habib and Sartaj for having one 30 bore pistol each.

Cases have been also registered against these nabbed persons and further investigation is underway from them. SSP Islamabad Najeeb-ur-Rehman Bugvi has appreciated this overall performance and directed for effective policing measures in the city to curb activities of anti-social elements.
