Traffic sense

During my recent visit to Lahore, it was great to see wide roads, underpasses and overhead bridges and cars of all makes and models plying on roads. However, what was missing was traffic sense. Everybody seemed to be in a hurry, overtaking from left and right and there was no regard for pedestrians. Traffic in Lahore and other cities of Pakistan is a free-for-all game. Motorists are the worst culprits.
After seeing all this, one can say that wide roads, underpasses and overhead bridges serve no purpose unless people are taught traffic rules. The motorway police style of discipline should be enforced on city roads. Schools are the best place to begin with. There should be compulsory classes on traffic rules. Similarly, traffic rules should be highlighted as public service messages on TV.
