Pharmacy technician course
Islamabad: The Pharmacy Council of Pakistan has approved two new colleges to run pharmacy technician programme in Punjab. It rejected nine requests of the pharmacy technician colleges and issued show cause notices to three colleges for were found unsatisfactory during surprise inspections.
PCP Vice-President Dr. A. Q. Javed Iqbal presided over the meeting, which was attended by national health services and regulations secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch and council members Prof. Dr. Azhar Hussain, Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, Dr Nisar Ahmed, Ayaz Gul Kiani, Tanveer Ahmed Siddiqui, Ali Ahmad Agha, Naveed Anwar and Dr Syed Atif Raza.
Established under the Pharmacy Act 1967, the PCP has been tasked with regulating pharmacy practice and education in the country and protecting, promoting and maintaining the health, safety and wellbeing of patients and the users of pharmaceutical services. Sixteenth agenda points were discussed in the meeting including inspection reports of graduate and undergraduate of pharmacy school and pharmacy technician programmes. The Council devised process and methodology for pre-registration examination in light of the court orders and said the process was being devised to improve quality of graduates.
