PESHAWAR: Three distinguished research scholars were honoured with research and development awards for this year in recognition for their scientific research works. The awards were given under the “Research and Development Effort Award Programme” of Science
and Technology Department of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said a handout.
The recipients of awards included Prof Dr Yasin Iqbal of Peshawar University, Prof Dr Jehan Bakht of Agriculture University, Peshawar, and Prof Dr Habib Hamid of Hazara University. A ceremony to this effect was held here with Senior Minister for Science and Technology Shahram Khan Tarakai was the chief guest.
Vice-chancellors of various universities, academicians, scholars, students, media
persons and government functionaries turned up at the occasion in large number. The chief guest said his government would fully back the scientific research projects that benefitted the society.
Shahram Khan said the R&D Effort Award of Science & Technology Department were meant to encourage the scholars and create an environment of a positive competition amongst the scholars with the view to promote scientific research.
