SNGPL Tennis C’ship main round starts today
LAHORE: The main round of 2nd SNGPL All-Pakistan Tennis Championship 2018 will start from May 2 (today) here.
MD SNGPL Amjad Latif will be the chief guest of opening ceremony. Muhammad Haroon, sports officer SNGPL, informed that MD Amjad Latif is very keen to promote sports. More than 200 players from all over Pakistan will participate in this tournament. President SNGPL Sports Cell Sohail Gulzar, Gen Secretary Nadeem Ashraf, Secretary PLTA Rashid Malik will also be present at the opening ceremony.
In this tournament men’s singles, ladies singles, men’s doubles, boys under-18 singles and doubles, girls under-18, boys under-16, boys under-14 singles and doubles, boys under-12 singles and doubles, boys under-10, men’s 40 plus, men’s 50 plus, men’s 60 plus will be held.
On Tuesday, qualifying rounds in men’s singles were played. In the first qualifying round Riaz Hassan beat M Munir by 6-0, Siknadar Hayyat beat Sohaib Anwar by 6-1. M Faramn ullah beat Kamaran Hassan by 6-3, Shakir Ullah beat Javed Ahsan by 6-0, Shahzad PAF beat Abdul Wahab by 6-0, Ilham Khan beat Iftkhar Azhar by 6-1, Ahmed Hamad beat Huymyion Rana by 7-5, Isarar Gul beat M Naveed Zafar by 6-0, Faisal Anwar beat Salman Ayaz by 6-0, Jehanzeb beat Ali Shakeel by 6-1, Tanveer Munir beat Arham Atiq by 6-4, M Syed Haddai Hassan beat Naoman Khan by 6-4 and qualify for main qualifying round. In Main Qualifying Round Hassan Riaz beat Sikander Hayyat by8-1, Shakil Ullah got walk over against Zain Qureshi, Shahzad PAF beat Ilham Khan by 8-2, Waqas Ahmed beat Ahmed Hamad by 8-2, Israr Gul beat Faisal Anwar by 8-3, Syed Haddi Hassan beat Noman Ali by 8-0, Farman Ali beat Imtaiz Riaz by 8-4 and qualified for the main round.
