BAHAWALPUR: The sacked sanitation workers of Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) Saturday staged a protest outside the Medical Officer (MS) of the hospital.
The workers protested against the outsourcing of the hospital sanitation and their removal on the pretext of privatisation. They said the contract signed between BVH administration and a private sanitation company was an unfair agreement. The protesters said they were given Rs14,000 per month instead of Rs 23,200. They demanded their reinstatement and a probe against the agreement signed between the BVH and the company. Meanwhile, addressing the protesters Pakistan Health Staff Association leader Muhammad Asim demanded immediate reinstatement of the workers and withdrawal of the contract with a sanitation company.
DEATH SENTENCE: Additional Sessions Judge Chishtian Tariq Mehmood Anjum Saturday awarded death sentence to a wife killer. According to the prosecution, Shahsawar had shot dead his wife Maryam Bibi in 2017 in the area of Dharanwala police station.
