The rape and murder of nine-year-old Saima in Larkana shows that crimes against children are increasing at a rapid pace. It is appalling that criminals always manage to get away with such offences. Early this year, a seven-year-old girl from Kasur was raped and then brutally killed in January.
Following the Kasur incident, the authorities vowed to take remedial measures to put an end to this crime. But no steps were taken in this respect. The authorities concerned must realise that such crimes will continue unless criminals are given exemplary punishments.
