LAHORE: Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal’s (MMA’s) legal committee has begun chalking out alliance’s manifesto.
The first meeting in this regard was held at Mansoora on Thursday with committee’s chairman and Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Liaqat Baloch in the chair.
Baloch told the committee that corrupt and self-seeking politicians had rendered the democratic process redundant and an alliance of patriotic religious parties could provide a sincere and capable leadership to the country.
Baloch, also secretary general of the MMA, said the alliance would enter the forthcoming elections in a big way with the election symbol of ‘book’.
Liaqat Baloch said an important meeting of heads of the MMA member parties was being held in Islamabad on Friday under the chairmanship of alliance chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman. The meeting would review preparations for the forthcoming elections and a line of action for the religious alliance in the provinces would be worked out.
He said the organisational work of the MMA in three provinces had been completed and the remaining work in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa would be completed soon.
He said that during May, public meetings would be held in the four provincial capitals and major cities.
During the month of Ramazan, Iftar parties would be held while the 27th of Ramazan would be celebrated as the Independence Day.
Liaqat Baloch said the accountability of the corrupt must continue uninterrupted without any confrontation between among the state institutions. He said the nation wanted election to be held on schedule and there should not be any unconstitutional move from any quarter.
He said the decisions of judiciary must be in accordance with the constitution and law and there should not be any impression of insult from any quarter. He said that rise in tensions had always benefited the non-democratic forces.
