Interviews for PU, LCWU provisional VCs begin today

LAHORE: Interviews to select suitable candidates for appointment of provisional Vice Chancellors (VCs) of the Punjab University and the Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) have been scheduled for Friday (today).

Higher Education Department (HED) Punjab has issued interview call letters to the shortlisted senior most faculty members of the two universities. For the Punjab University, the interview call letters have been issued to Prof Dr Muhammad Taqi Zahid Butt, Prof Dr Shahid Kamal, Prof Dr Muhammad Fakhr-ul-Haq Noori, Prof Dr Nasira Jabeen and Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar (presently working as VC UET Taxila).

For the LCWU, the interview call letters have been issued to Prof Dr Bushra Khan, Prof Dr Shagufta Naz and Prof Dr Farkhanda Manzoor. The interviews will be held at Government College University (GCU).

delegation: Government College University (GCU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah and Geography Department Chairperson Dr Ali Iqtidar Gillani along with the team of disaster management society on Thursday visited Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) Punjab headquarters Lahore.

Pakistan Red Crescent Punjab Secretary Dr Shaukat Ali welcomed the delegation. Prof Dr Hassan acknowledged the services of Pakistan Red Crescent. Dr Shaukat said Pakistan Red Crescent was working for the humanity since its foundation without any discrimination. He said PRC Punjab would increase the number of first aid and disaster management workshops to train the students of GCU Lahore. Dr Shaukat presented souvenirs to the VC and chairperson.

play: Government College University’s Dramatic Club (GCUDC) Thursday staged an English play “And then there were none” written by Agatha Christie. They play unfolds a tale of suspense, thrill and sheer horror.

Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairman Prof Dr Muhammad Nizam-ud-Din was the chief guest of the opening day of the play. Dramatic Club Advisor Irfan Randhawa has directed the play. It revolves around ten strangers strangled on an island, getting murdered one by one mysteriously. Government College University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah appreciated the invaluable efforts of GCUDC for the survival of theatrical traditions in the university.
