Ex-minister Hina Khar, family booked in forgery case

MUZAFFARGARH: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Tuesday booked former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar and other family members in a forgery case filed by her stepbrother.

The other family members are Hina's sisters Anila Rabbani, Khadija Rabbani, Naeema, Nadia Rabbani, their brother Malik Raza Rabbani, mother Sumaira Abdullah and father MNA Malik Ghulam Muhammad Noor Rabbani Khar.

The case was also instituted against Mushtaq Mehboob Leghari, Ghulam Hussain, Naib Tehsildars, Rahim Bakhsh, Atta Hussain Kalera, Ghulam Yasin, Noor M Khund, Sikandar Khan, M Eisa, M Yousaf, Asghar Ali Qureshi, Girdawars/Qanoongos, Ghulam Ali, Rahim Bakhsh, Karim Bakhsh, M Amin, Elahi Bakhsh, Sikandar Khan, Saifullah, Abdul Rehman Qadir Bakhsh, Patwaris of the Land Revenue Department. However, no arrest was made till this report was filed.

Hina Rabbani’s stepbrother Malik Abdul Khaliq Rabbani Khar had filed a fraud and forgery case against 25 people. Khaliq alleged that the accused have illegally transferred family property for which a complaint had already been filed at the directorate of ACE.

After an initial investigation, a fraud case was registered against the accused. The petitioner alleged that Malik Noor Rabbani Khar had separated from his mother Zaibunnisa and married to Sumaira Abdullah. He transferred 1,535 kanal, 13 marla land to his new wife and other children by using his political influence.A postgraduate in hospitality and tourism from the University of Massachusetts, Hina Rabbani Khar has her roots in a wealthy feudal family of south Punjab. Khar was appointed as Pakistan’s youngest and first woman foreign minister by the PPP government. Hina's elder uncle Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar was the governor of Punjab, who also served as the federal minister for power.
