Advertisement for five varsities VCs finalised
LAHORE: Higher Education Department (HED), Punjab on Tuesday finalised the advertisement for the post of Vice-Chancellor (VC) of five public sector universities in the province.
These universities include the University of Home Economics, Lahore; Women University, Multan; University of Okara; University of Jhang and Ghazi University, Dera Ghazi Khan. Sources in the HED said the advertisements would soon be placed in the media to search for the suitable candidates for these universities.
Notifications issued in this regard read that the ban imposed by the Election Commission of Pakistan is not applicable in these cases as the Supreme Court of Pakistan had issued directions on April 22 in Human Rights Case No 13865-P.
As per the eligibility criteria, the applicants must not be more than 65 years of age on the last date fixed for submission of applications and the applicants preferably have earned PhD degree from a recognised institution.
PU conference: Punjab University Department of Special Education organised first international conference on research in special education at the university’s Environmental Law Auditorium here on Tuesday.
Researchers from various parts of the world including Prof Dr Aftab A Khan from USA, Prof Dr Barbarra Fogarty from New Zealand, Prof Dr G Hussain Rasool from United Kingdom, Dr Amjad Saqib, Prof Dr Abdul Hameed, Prof Dr Nasir Sulman, Department of Special Education Chairperson Dr Humaira Bano, researchers from various parts of the country and a large number of students were present.
The theme of the conference was “Addressing diversity through education". Dr Humaira Bano said the conference was a good platform to lay foundation of an endless road where students would have the opportunity to rediscover, explore and transform new ideas in the field of special education.
seminar: Punjab University Institute of Social and Cultural Studies (ISCS) organised an awareness seminar on hepatitis at its auditorium here on Tuesday. Dean Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences Prof Dr Zakria Zakar, Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization Dr Farah Rauf Shakoori, resource person Dr Abdul Rauf Janjua from University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, faculty members, shopkeepers and students participated in the awareness seminar. Addressing the participants, Dr Abdul Rauf Janjua said hepatitis was a curable disease but ‘we need to take preventive measures to avoid spread of such disease.’
