Notice issued in promotion case

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has issued direction to Dean of Khyber College of Dentistry, Peshawar, chairman, Board of Governors, Medical Teaching Institution, Khyber Teaching Hospital to submit reply in a writ petition for not promoting the eligible candidate to the vacant post of professor Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 2015.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Abdul Shakoor and Justice Ijaz Anwar issued notice to the respondents including Dean Khyber College of Dentistry, Peshawar, chairman Board of Governors, Medical Teaching Institution Khyber Teaching Hospital and head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, for second time to submit comments in the case before the next hearing.

The bench issued notice in the writ petition filed by Dr Muslim Khan, working and posted as associate professor, Oral and Maxillofacial, Khyber College of Dentistry through his lawyer Usman Khan Turlandi. The doctor, who is eligible for the post, is seeking his promotion on the vacant post of professor ‘Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery’ (BPS-20) on the basis of his seniority and fitness.
