1,710 liquor bottles recovered

Islamabad: A distillery was unearthed in the slums of capital where huge quantity of liquor and alcohol was recovered while two accused were apprehended in the raid, police said on Friday.

On a tip off, SSP Islamabad Najeeb-ur-Rehman Bugvi assigned the task to SP Amir Khan Niazi to conduct a crackdown on the bootleggers in the slam area. SP constituted a team under the supervision of DSP Saddar circle Ghulam Muhammad Baqar and SHO Golra Sub-Inspector Abdul Razzaq who along with Sub-Inspector Main Shahbaz, ASIs Rana Nadeem, Gul Nawaz and other officials conducted a raid at a fake liquor factory located at Meera Baadi being run by notorious bootlegger Malik Yasir.

Police team recovered 160 litres of brewed alcohol, 1,710 liquor bottles corks and other material used in the manufacturing process. Two accused were arrested and an FIR was lodged against them. The nabbed persons have been identified as Muhammad Tanveer and Mohsin Javed.

SSP Islamabad Najeeb ur Rehman Bugvi has appreciated the performance and directed all police officials for effective policing measures in their respective areas.
