NAB complaint verification ordered against Agha Siraj, Saad

ISLAMABAD: Top leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani has come under the scrutiny of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for irregularities in the funds for the construction of the new building of the Sindh Assembly as well as illegal appointments in the Sindh Assembly and having assets beyond known source of income.

NAB Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal Thursday ordered the complaint verification against Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani and Secretary Sindh Assembly Ghulam Muhammad Umar Farooq. The chairman also ordered the complaint verification against Agha Siraj Durrani allegedly for accumulating assets beyond known source of income.

While the NAB chairman also ordered the compliant verification against Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq for his alleged lavish expenditures on purchasing 4,500 horse power locomotives, track maintenance machines and leasing out precious Railways land in Lahore to favourites on throwaway prices that too in violation of rules.

Besides this, Justice (R) Javed Iqbal, while seeking the reports of three inquiries and ongoing two investigations against ex-director general Sindh Building Control Authority Manzoor Qadir, directed the NAB to approach Interpol with writing a letter to bring back Manzoor Qadir from abroad. It is to be mentioned that the NAB has filed reference against Manzoor Qadir in the Accountability Court in Karachi and the cases were being heard there.

The NAB chairman has sought report of latest progress on one investigation and member Revenue Board Sindh Shah Zar Shamon reference. The NAB has filed a reference against former secretary land utilisation and member Revenue Board Sindh Shah Zar Shamon in a case of illegal allotment of 530 acres land. The legal proceedings of reference are under process as per law in Accountability Court Karachi.
