The monsoon season is just around the corner. A season which should be a blessing for the citizens of Karachi has become a trouble that continues to take toll on the lives of residents. Flooded roads, power outages, diseases due to stagnant water are some of the problems that the monsoon season brings to the city. When it rains in Karachi, the Sindh government looks away from its responsibilities. The condition of sewers in Karachi is so bad that even light rain showers bring the lives of citizens to a standstill.
Every year, residents of Karachi face the same problem and every year the provincial government vows to take steps to deal with the situation. But, unfortunately, nothing constructive is ever done to minimise the destruction and damage caused by rains. But residents are not losing hope. They are hoping that the authorities concerned will finally look into the matter and take appropriate steps to carry out repair and maintenance work in the city starting with unclogging of blocked drains.
