RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s leader Hanif Abbasi on Thursday appeared before the Special Narcotics Court (SNC), Rawalpindi, in the ephedrine case and requested Judge Muhammad Akram Khan to defreeze his accounts.
However, the Anti- Narcotics Force (ANF) strongly opposed the request and told the court that if Hanif Abbasi is acquitted in the ephedrine case, all his accounts will be defrozen automatically, but it was not possible to defreeze them at this stage. ANF Special Prosecutor Zahid Mehmood hoped that the case will be decided on the next date.
Rawalpindi SNC Judge Muhammad Akram Khan has adjourned the further hearing of the case till May 5, 2018. Meanwhile, ANF Special Prosecutor Zahid Mehmood, in his arguments, said that we have frozen all the accounts of Hanif Abbasi according to the government policy. We have frozen the accounts to stop all kind of transaction, he said adding that we could not defreez the accounts till final decision of the court. If the court doesn’t acquit Hanif Abbasi in the ephedrine case, we will take further action in this regard, he said.
