Alleged corruption: NAB chairman orders complaint verification against minister

ISLAMABAD: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (R) Javed Iqbal Tuesday ordered a complaint verification against Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Tariq Fazal Chaudhry for alleged corruption and embezzlement of funds. He took notice on a complaint filed against the minister for alleged corruption and embezzlement in the Federal Directorate of Education, Special Education and Private Educational Institute Regulatory Authority (Peira). Justice Javed directed Director General NAB, Rawalpindi Naeem Mangi to probe the complaint. Meanwhile, the NAB, Rawalpindi Region, Tuesday approved a reference against a former office-bearer of Federation of Employees Cooperative Housing Society. As per details, Aamir Riasat being General Secretary of FECHS knowingly and with mala fide intentions produced a map in the CDA showing four plots, measuring 4 kanal, as a public park which was already allotted in 2004 being residential plots and the payments of those plots had already been received by the society.

By concealing facts, he got the layout plan of society approved from the CDA.

In another case, an investigation has been ordered against the Postal Services Department, Gilgit-Baltistan’s Postmasters Hajit Ullah Baig and Shahid Ali.

Accused Hajit Ullah Baig while serving at the Post Office, Sost and Post Office, Gulmit dishonestly, malafidely and by misusing his authority as postmaster embezzled Rs13.41 million from 98 savings accounts of account holders.

Accused Shahid Ali while serving as postmaster at Post Office, Sost and Post Office, Gulmit dishonestly, malafidely and by misuse of authority embezzled Rs9.71 million from 69 different savings accounts of account holders maintained at the post offices.
