ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has alleged that the hierarchy of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) follows the same pattern: money laundering, Iqama followed by a Qatari-style letter.
“Seems one of the main qualifications to becoming a Sharif darbari is to steal from the country. Kh 'iqama' Asif is one of their star performers. And he had the audacity to shamelessly attack the SKMT to please his godfather,” Imran said in tweets.
Meanwhile, the PTI Information Secretary, Fawad Chaudhry, hit back at Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah for criticising the party for releasing the names for caretaker prime minister to the media.
Fawad Chaudhry said that the PTI had not officially announced the nominees for an interim prime minister or caretaker chief minister. He said Khursheed Shah should have contacted the PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi to clear any confusion before commenting on the matter.
“The post of an opposition leader is an important one, and such carelessness should not have happened,” the PTI leader contended. Meanwhile, Imran said the party’s parliamentary board in its Tuesday’s meeting completed initial scrutiny of applications filed by candidates for upcoming elections.
The PTI chairman reiterated that well-educated, energetic and loyal candidates would be selected. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak and other parliamentary board members attended the meeting. The PTI’s election management cell briefed the participants about scrutiny of candidates’ applications.
It was decided that tickets would be issued to selected candidates after May 4. The meeting also decided to take oath from candidates that they would not violate the party’s discipline in case they are not issued tickets. During the meeting, Imran claimed that the party’s position in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was quite strong.
