Forensic test clears samples of candies

The Punjab Forensic Science Agency report showed no drugs or common poisons in the candies and other edible items which were collected as samples after three minor siblings’ deaths, allegedly after eating toxic toffees.

All samples were collected from 12 shops of the area in which the incident occured by Punjab Food Authority. The samples were sent to PFSA for forensic test. According to the forensic report, no harmful or toxic thing was found in the samples. The victims’ families had alleged the minors lost their lives due to eating toxic toffees. PFA had immediately closed the shops within the 200-meter radius after the incident.

Meanwhile, PFA sealed four food businesses and issued fine tickets of Rs 61,000 to seven food outlets in City. The food businesses, including a arestaurant, a Falooda point and Pure Fine Premium Water Filtration Plant, were sleaded in the areas of Qaddafi Stadium, Samnabad and Johar Town for not following the food safety laws.

Remarks on firing incident regretted

LAHORE: Punjab government’s spokesman Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan while regretting irresponsible statements from certain political elements on sad incident of firing on residence of honourable judge Justice Ijazul Ahsan has said the issue is highly sensitive. He said Supreme Court is also monitoring all developments on the investigations. “JIT is investigating on professional pace and would submit its report to the government officials concerned and to Supreme Court as well,” he said. Malik Ahmed said JIT is comprised of representatives from all departments concerned and hopefully all political leaders would avoid unnecessary comments till the completion of inquiry.
