SWABI: The police obtained one day judicial remand of Adnan Khan, brother of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, from a local court here on Friday in a case lodged against him by the vice-chancellor of University of Swabi.
He was allegedly involved in interfering in the affairs of the University of Swabi. The remand was given by Syed Iftikhar Ali Shah, Senior Civil Judge, Chota Lahor tehsil.The police said Adnan Khan was arrested late Thursday night after an FIR was registered against him by Dr Noor Jehan, vice-chancellor, University of Swabi.
Adnan Khan had reportedly exchanged harsh words with the vice-chancellor after she terminated the services of the university’s director administration. She then lodged a case against him at the Chota Lahor Police Station.
Adnan Khan had supported the protesting employees, who staged protest for the reinstatement of the sacked official, who belongs to Speaker Asad Qaiser’s village, Marghuz.The University of Swabi Staff Welfare Association had opposed the dismissal of the director, who was appointed on contract basis at the university on February 14.
