Malnutrition: 10 more children die in Mithi Civil Hospital
MITHI: As many as 10 more children, belonging to the different areas of Tharparkar died due to malnutrition and viral infection at the Civil Hospital in the last 24 hours, here on Saturday.
Confirming the tragedy, the health department’s sources said 10 more children brought to the Civil Hospital, Mith died, pushing the death toll, in the current year to 190. All the children died of malnutrition and infection, the hospital sources said.
Those who died included one-year-old Nishad, two-year-old Khalida, three-month-old Intezaar Ali, four-month-old Marvi, five-month-old Abida, eight-year-old Marvi, six-month-old named Khatoon, eight-month-old Aisha, three-month-old Dhana and seven-month-old Shaanti.
The parents of the deceased and the ailing children complained the areas where their houses are located do not have health and other basic facilities and there is shortage of medicines also.
They said they have to travel several kilometers for the treatment of the children in hot weather.The difficult travel conditions, they said further puts strain on the condition of the sick children, due to which their health further deteriorates and they die during treatment.
