MULTAN: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Yawar Ali Khan has said that judges have taken oath for the supremacy of constitution and they issue verdicts according to constitution and law.

Addressing the Multan district judiciary meeting here at circuit house on Wednesday, he said major objective of the judiciary was to protect rights and provide justice to each citizen. The society will face destruction when it fails to differentiate between oppressed and aggressor, he said. The chief justice said the country and the nation can only progress, prosperous when justice prevails. “We should perform our duties honestly. Justice is not limited to a person only rather equal justice should be provided to all,” he said.

He said even he was not above the law. All stakeholders need to fulfill requirements of law to bring peace in the society. The cases should be disposed of according to law and constitution for swift justice.

Justice Qasim Raza Shamsi, Justice Ibadur Rehman Lodhi, Justice Baqil Ali Najfi, Justice Amin Ahmed, Justice Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmed, Justice M Iqbal, Justice Asjad Javed Goral, Justice Muzammil Akhtar Shabbir, Multan District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Abdul Qayyum, senior civil and additional session judges were present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, LHC Chief Justice Yawar Ali Khan has said that justice is the quality of God and its dispensation holds paramount importance in every society. Addressing the lawyers at district bar here on Wednesday, he said judges and lawyers perform an important role in providing justice to the masses. He assured the lawyers that he would work out on shifting the district courts to new judicial complex. “I have a viable solution to the problem,” he added.

The LHC CJ said he always got immense respect and love from the city of Multan. He said the lawyers of Multan were highly professional. “I often quote that lawyers and judges are like a vehicle of justice that provides justice to the people. It is the responsibility of all to push this vehicle into right direction to ensure justice,” he added.

Earlier, Multan District Bar Association president Malik Mehboob Sandela demanded the chief justice for continuation of work at district courts rather shifting them to new judicial complex because it is too far and not fully equipped with facilities. Sandela said the city lawyers had greatly sacrificed in the lawyers movement and their collective demand is that the district courts should not be shifted to new judicial complex. The new judicial complex is not a safe place and it will largely disturb the clients for travelling far to the new judicial complex, he explained.
