ZTBL, CDA record third straight wins in Patron’s Trophy Grade-II

KARACHI: ZTBL and CDA pulled off their third straight wins on the second day of their third round fixtures of the Patron’s Trophy Grade-II on Thursday.

In a Group C outing, at Diamond Club Ground, Islamabad, ZTBL crushed OGDCL by an innings and nine runs to boost their position at the group summit.In reply to ZTBL’s first innings total of 278, OGDCL were folded for 101 in their first innings with Mohammad Ali picking 4-43.

After being forced to follow-on, OGDCL perished for 168. Fast bowler Mohammad Ali was once again the main destroyer as he captured 5-39, for match figures of 9-82.In the other match of Group C, at Pindi Stadium, CDA whipped PIA by an innings and 39 runs.

After taking 226 runs lead, CDA dismissed PIA for 187 in their second innings. Kashif Ali picked 6-55.In response to PIA’s first innings score of 140, CDA resumed their innings at 203-3 and were bowled out for 366 in 82 overs. Faizan Riaz struck 127 off 173 balls, smashing 12 fours. Anwar Ali and Aizaz Cheema claimed three wickets each.

In a Group A outing, here at SBP Ground, Navy took four runs lead when they were folded for 169 in response to SBP’s first innings score of 165.Asad Baig made 54 and Fawad Khan belted 38. Safi Abdullah got 4-43. At stumps, SBP were 105-3 in their second innings.

Here at NBP Sports Complex, Zeeshan Malik slammed 108 and Danish Aziz blasted a solid run-a-ball 89 to hand Omar Associates a substantial lead when they scored 331-9 in the stipulated 83 overs in their first innings in response to CAA’s total of 234. Haris Khanzada got 4-73. CAA were 68-2 in their second innings.

At UBL Sports Complex here, Haideri Traders secured a solid lead when, after dismissing K-Electric for 143, they made 295-8 in the allotted 83 overs in their first innings. Jalat Khan made 55 not out and Nasir Khan chipped in with 44. Spinner Faraz Ahmed Khan and Asad Raza got four wickets each.

K-Electric were 181-3 in their second innings, with a lead of 67. In a Group B match, at Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot, in response to KPT’s first innings total of 295-7, PQA reached 131-8 with Mohammad Waqas making unbeaten 44. Khalid Mehmood got 4-37.At Rana Naved Cricket Academy Ground, Sheikhupra, Ahmed Glass were in deep trouble as they reached 80-3 in their second innings against PAF while chasing a stiff target of 416.

Earlier, in response to PAF’s first innings total of 337 all out, Ahmed Glass perished for only 122 in their first innings with Naseer Ahmed picking 5-64.In a Group C match, at Army Cricket Ground, Rawalpindi, Army got a lead when after posting 337 they dismissed Pak Saudi for 283. Raza-ul-Mustafa (64), Imtiaz Aslam (56) and Mohammad Imran (52) hit fifties. Awais Zafar got 4-77.

Army were 142 without loss in their second innings.In a Group D match, at Railways Stadium, HEC were in dire straits as, after conceding 179 runs lead against Railways, they were gasping at 115-5. Ghani Glass gained 60 runs lead when, after scoring 297, they dismissed Sabir’s Poultry for 237. Ghani Glass were 76 without loss in their second innings.
