Affordable medicines
A deadly disease on the rise in Pakistan is breast cancer which claims thousands of lives annually. According to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO), 83,000 cases of breast cancer are reported annually in Pakistan and around 40,000 women die of this deadly disease. The medicines which one needs to tackle such diseases are quite expensive and are beyond the range of the common man. However, the good news is that a Swiss-based pharmaceutical company has initiated a healthcare programme worldwide, including Pakistan, which primarily focuses on the affordability and availability of commonly prescribed medicines.
If the government takes necessary steps to sign MoU with the company, citizens of Pakistan can get life-saving medicines at affordable rates, covering the treatment of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as breast cancer, diabetes, respiratory and cardiovascular diseases at an insignificant price of $1 per treatment per month. This is something highly beneficial for people as it will help them get access to expensive medicines.
