30 militants killed in Kandahar battle
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan: Up to 30 militants have been killed and nearly a dozen others injured as clash erupted in Miwand district of Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province on Friday night, provincial Police Chief General Abdul Razed said Saturday.
The government forces, according to the official, raided Taliban hideouts in Sara Baghal area of Miwand district late Friday night and in addition to killing 30 insurgents and injuring 10 others have also destroyed several hideouts of the militant group.
During the operations, the security forces have also seized 26 motorbikes, eight vehicles and some computers of the militants, besides destroying a health center of the Taliban, the Kandahar police chief added. Taliban militants who are active in parts of Kandahar province have not yet commented.
