Christians in town observe Good Friday
The Christian community in town observed Good Friday, the 30th of March. Good Friday is the commemoration of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on the Cross and is marked by the traditional three-hour meditation service in churches.
Likewise, churches in Karachi witnessed the observance of the service. Given the solemn importance of the day, the faithful converged on the churches in large numbers and braved it out in the searing heat to sit through the three-hour services.
About a thousand faithful turned up for service at the Holy Trinity Cathedral for two services simultaneously, one in Urdu and the other in English, in the compound of the Trinity School for the Urdu service, and in the main cathedral for the English language service.
Sermons based on the seven last words of Jesus Christ on the Cross were delivered in the main Holy Trinity Cathedral by the Reverends Kamran Younus, Cornelius Khalid, Frederick John, Dr Parvez Sultan, Hinnan Herbert, Salman Babar, and Bishop Sadiq Daniel.
