PESHAWARF: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial chairman Sikandar Sherpao on Wednesday asked the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) to take notice of the huge expenditure incurred on the formation and running of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission (KPEC).

Speaking at a press conference, he said the provincial government had established the commission with the tall claim to eradicate the menace of corruption and nab all those involved in misuse of official resources.

However, he said the KPEC had been turned into toothless entity to befool the people in the name of accountability. Sikandar Sherpao said his party had always raised voice for the rights of the Pakhtuns in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

“We don’t have any objection to the establishment the KPEC, but the way it is being run is the wastage of funds. We still remember the tall claims of the ruling party’s leadership to eradicate the menace of corruption within 90 days, but the replacement of director general of the body and filling the seat with the relative of a minister has proved that the claim of accountability is a hollow slogan,” he asserted.

The QWP, he said, was striving to secure rights of Pakhtuns. He said his party would no longer remain silent over the poor role of the Ehtesab Commission.
