ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Wednesday said the meeting between Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chief Justice Saqib Nisar will backfire.
Talking to media persons at the Parliament House, Khursheed Shah said the meeting between the prime minister and chief justice was appreciated, but the timing for any meeting was always important.
“If the meeting was indispensable, then they should have met where no one could know about the meeting,” he said. The opposition leader opined that he fears Tuesday’s meeting will backfire in the current situation and it would be very dangerous.
He said there was some outcome after every meeting for resolution of issue, but it remains to be decided that who will resolve these issues as the judiciary cannot directly implement it. “The judiciary should call up the establishment and chief ministers to give guidelines on what to do,” he said.
Khursheed Shah said there will be no need of any NRO if the system and institutions were strengthened. “If the system and institutions are strong, then there will be no need of any NRO as these things only happen when the system and institutions are weak in the country,” he said.
