This refers to the news story, ‘Pakistan develops armed drone, test-fires laser-guided missile’ (March 14). Finally, the country has developed the technology it had long been seeking from the US. The drone can aim at both stationary and moving targets. The army will now be able to safely monitor and track targets in areas where sending ground troops would be either untenable or too risky.
The engineers and scientists involved in its development deserve appreciation for their untiring efforts in fulfilling our armed forces long outstanding requirement. Pakistan’s earlier drone version could be used for surveillance purposes only. Now extreme care has to be exercised in protecting communications in this remotely-flown vehicle as video feeds can be intercepted if communications are not protected.
