PESHAWAR: A four-day international conference titled “Plant Resources, Current Trends, Challenges and its Solutions” started at the University of Peshawar on Saturday.

The event has been organised by the Islamia College University, University of Peshawar, Higher Education Commission and Pakistan Botanical Society. It comprises around 35 technical sessions, about 600 papers and 1,000 delegates are attending it, said a press release.

Welcoming honourable delegates of the conference, the key host, the Vice-Chancellor Islamia College University Prof Dr Habib Ahmad said that the conference would greatly boost the biodiversity resources at the disposal of trillion dollars’ industry of healthcare, food and energy.

He said that biodiversity of Pakistan is a rich canvas for researchers of the world.

Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser, Chief Editor, Pakistan Journal of Botany, while giving presentation to the audience elaborated the international trends of research in the botanical world.

Prof Khan Bahadur Marwat stated that the Journal of Botany is an impact factor and world-class journal that brings out six volumes a year, containing 50 articles.
