Afghan refugees in Mansehra asked to restrict movement
MANSEHRA: The district administration has served notice on 1,600 Afghan refugee families to shift to Khaki camp before April 10 or else they would be deported to native country.
The notices were served on Afghan refugee families settled at Sheikhabad, Barari and Ichrian camps and other areas in the district.
“All Afghan refugee families settled anywhere in the district would be shifted to Khaki camp,” Abdul Rehman, the assistant commissioner, told reporters on Thursday.
He said a high-level meeting held in Abbottabad under Hazara Commissioner Akbar Khan a day earlier had decided to restrict mobility of Afghans to a single camp situated in Khaki area of district.
“We have also served notices on such Afghan refugee families settled in urban and rural parts of district” said Abdul Rehman.
Earlier, in the day a meeting in this connection was also held with Mansehra Deputy Commissioner Ayaz Khan and also attended by personnel of law enforcement agencies and district representative of Afghan commissioner, Naeem Shahzad.
