Advisory for maize farmers
LAHORE: The Punjab Agriculture Department has asked the growers not to sow corn at later stage of sowing.
According to a spokesman for Punjab Agriculture Department, maize growers' protection was top agenda of the current regime. He said the time for sowing spring maize crop started from last week of January and ended up till mid-March. Delayed sowing would decrease the yield of maize.
According economic experts, if an agricultural commodity cultivated to a large extent, its market price collapsed due to imbalance in demand and supply. Ultimately, the growers of that commodity cannot get as much profit as in case of sowing commodity in the same range to satisfy the demand of market. In the developed countries, farmers are advised to sow agricultural commodities in accordance with the market situation. The spokesman advised the farmers planning to sow maize crop after the its sowing season should cultivate some other crop.
