Pak contingent to leave for Australia on 31st

LAHORE: An 87-member Pakistan contingent for the XXI Commonwealth Games will leave for Australia on March 31.
Pakistan Olympic Association finalized the list of contingent participating in the upcoming Games scheduled to be held in Gold Coast, Australia from April 4-15.
Pakistan Contingent comprising of 87 athletes and officials including chef de mission, general team manager, doctor, press attache and administrative personnel will represent the country in the games. Lt Gen (R) Muzammil Hussain, Chairman Wapda is Chef de Mission (CDM) of the contingent. A meeting was convened by Gen Muzammil Hussain to discuss the arrangements and players’ participation in various games.
All the secretaries of participating national sports federations alongwith accompanying team managers and representatives of PSB were invited to attend this important meeting. Khalid Mahmood, Secretary POA, gave a presentation on the team’s participation and travel plan. Syed Habib Shah, Deputy Director General (Tech), PSB and Dr Waqar Ahmad Chairman Anti-Doping Organization of Pakistan also gave their presentations. The departure of Pakistan Contingent is planned on March 31 from Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi as per availability of flights. Hockey and Weightlifting Teams will depart on March 27. The team welcome ceremony of Pakistan will take place on April 3.
The Opening Ceremony of the Games will take place on April 4 and Closing Ceremony on April 15. Pakistan Contingent would depart from Gold Coast on April 16 and 17 for Pakistan.
