Road reopens in Bara after 12 years

BARA: The authorities on Thursday reopened the 12 kilometers road in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency for traffic after it remained closed for 12 years.

Several roads were closed down by the security forces during the militancy in Bara sub-division and in Khajori area. Assistant Political Agent Bara Asmatullah Wazir and Major Hamid Mahsud of Scouts reopened the 12 kilomters road from Shanko to Chura area.

Speaking at a ceremony, APA Asmatullah Wazir said that the residents of Chura and Shanko areas had been facing host of problem due to the closure of the roads. "The road leading to Bar Qambarkhel had been disconnected, and the residents had no options but to use the longer route of Jamrud tehsil," APA said, adding people had to cover a distance of 40 kilometre.

He said the road would be rebuilt soon, adding, provision of all facilities including education, health and communication to the affected areas was top priority of the government. The residents of Afridi tribes and social worker Sadeeq Afridi appreciated the political administration and security forces to reopen the Shanko and Chura roads.
