Women enthusiastically participate in business festival

Islamabad: Islamabad Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Womenx put up a great show at Lok Virsa here on Sunday to promote women entrepreneurs in Business festival WIBFEST (Women in Business Festival).

Families throng in to attend and encourage the female entrepreneurs who had put up various stalls to display their handicrafts. The purpose of the festival was to revive the funfairs in the country promoting and encouraging women entrepreneurs in Pakistan. Women entrepreneurs from all over the Pakistan like Karachi, Hyderabad, Multan, Peshawar, Lahore, Sailkot, Faislabad and Mardan showcased their products and services. Besides home decor, handicrafts, organic products, health, IT, women offered their diverse services in travel and tourism, cyber security, designed costumes, solar energy businesses. Women involved in manufacturing sector and logistics also took part in the event. Delicious eateries businesses owned by women attracted massive crowd. Fun area for kids with mascots from Allahyar and the legend of Markhor attracted a lot of families to visit the event.

Ghazanfar Bilour, president FPCCI said that FPCCI, is seriously looking at ways to increase women economic empowerment and participation in their respective business sectors while inaugurating the event.

Reem Abbasi, president, IWCCI said that our efforts to celebrate women in business as International Women’s Day activity this year is encouraging entrepreneurship in women that will bring about the change that is required and events like these pave way for more women to come forward and start their own business.

Samina Fazil, founder president of IWCCI said providing and expanding the enabling environment for women entrepreneurs in societies also expands the diversity of skills. When woman start a business and compete on the same platform as men, there is a greater potential to see creativity and innovation in women owned businesses.

One of the participating woman Rizwana said that IWCCI has always provided us an opportunity not only in the country to expand our business but also give us the opportunity to display our products abroad which has given us national and international exposure to expand our businesses.
