Residents who are living near Nishtar Park are desperately waiting for the authorities concerned to collect heaps of garbage scattered all over the locality. These mounds of rubbish have given rise to so many serious diseases. Even though the Sindh government has collaborated with a foreign company to tackle issues involved in waste management, it has failed to deal with the garbage crisis in an effective manner. Although waste bins were installed all over the city to reduce the garbage problem, there hasn’t been the slightest change in the situation.
The problem will continue to persist if the authorities fail to take remedial measures in a timely manner. Not a single plastic bag should be allowed to hover in the air. A small fine should be imposed on a person who deliberately throws the trash in the streets. The relevant department should diligently disposes of garbage on a daily basis. Living in a clean environment and breathing pure air is an inalienable right.
