Bid to smuggle guns from Afghanistan

LANDIKOTAL: The Khassadar force personnel at Torkham border foiled a bid to smuggle sniper guns from Afghanistan and arrested the gun-runners, officials said on Sunday. Political Muharrir Ali Raza, a local official, told The News that an empty truck (779-NGR) coming from Afghanistan was stopped at the Torkham border and during search 20 foreign-manufactured sniper guns were recovered. He said the driver, Noor Gul, and his helper Faizul Amin, both residents of Afghanistan, were arrested and sent to the lock-up in Landikotal. Ali Raza said the price of each sniper gun is Rs1.4 million in the market. He added that the two Afghans who were arrested were being interrogated.
