ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Ch Nisar has raised a question that what was the business of criminal elements inside MQM Headquarters and adjoining areas?
“I am amazed. What criminal elements were doing at MQM headquarters and its surroundings,” Nisar said while talking to The News/Geo News.He remains the only cabinet minister who is publically supporting the action of the Rangers. He said why provincial governments are silent on this important issue.
“I wonder why no government is supporting and hailing the role played by the Rangers Sindh, after all they have taken action against the criminals and this is now an established fact that there were criminals there,” said Nisar.
When asked about the claim of MQM that the fire arms recovered from the MQM headquarters compound were brought in blankets by the Rangers, the minister declared it “rubbish” and asked back why would Rangers do that? He said that law enforcement agencies are very responsible.
He defended the action of Rangers and said that the action taken by them was legal and was only against the criminals. He said that Rangers have arrested 27 men against whom cases of serious crimes including murders and terrorism were already registered. He said that out of these 27 arrested men, 20 are target killers.
The interior minister said Rangers recovered 130 sophisticated weapons from the MQM headquarters beside recovering 3000 live rounds. He said Rangers carried out a legal operation based on intelligence and no party or political group was the target of this law enforcement agency which only arrested the criminal elements.
The minister said he is closely in contact with the Rangers Sindh and they have given some details to the federal government and other stakeholders. He said someone must stand for the rule of law and “we all should support legal actions against violence”
