ISLAMABAD: The News crushed Star Marketing by 110 runs to lift the Jang Media Cricket League 2018 trophy here at the National Cricket Ground on Wednesday, says a press release.
Put in to bat first, The News blasted 157 runs in the allotted 10 overs with Muhammad Ali playing an anchor inning of 69 runs.In reply, Star Marketing batsmen could not resist the destructive bowling of The News and bundled out for just 47 runs. Babar Khan, Ahmad Hassan bagged three and Sheraz Bhatti, Naik Muhammad took two wickets each for The News.
Muhammad Ali of The News was declared man-of-the-match while Zain from Star Marketing declared best batsman of the tournament. Sheraz Bhatti of The News won the best bowler of the tournament award.
The winning team received Rs100,000 cash and trophy while runners-up got richer by Rs50,000 and trophy. CEO Star Marketing Wasiq Naeem, Deputy Mayor Islamabad Zeeshan Naqvi, Deputy Mayor Islamabad Riffat Chaudhry, CEO Executive Enterprises A.R Nasir, Editor The News Aamir Ghouri, Bureau Chief Daily Jang Islamabad Tahir Khalil, Khursheed Barlas of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Khalil Ahmad of the National Savings were present at the closing ceremony.
The event was organised by Jang Media Group in collaboration with Star Marketing, Top City, National Savings, Brighto Paints, Vertex, Gandhara City, Real Time Marketing, Redsun Associates, Pak Associate, Multiply and Airport Enclave.
