Sohaib Maqsood helps Sultans wallop Zalmi
SHARJAH: Sohaib Maqsood’s unbeaten 42-ball 85 helped Multan Sultans defeat defending champions Peshawar Zalmi in the 16th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Sent into bat first, Multan Sultans set 184 runs target for Peshawar Zalmi. Sohaib Maqsood scored 85 off 42 balls while Ahmad Shehzad made 37 off 37.
It was enough to see off Peshawar, who for their part batted well, but were unable to keep up with the intimidating asking-rate throughout the match, ultimately falling short by 19 runs. Zalmi could score 164 for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated overs. Hafeez scored 56 runs and Liam Dawson made 32 off 17 balls. Sohail Tanvir and Kieron Pollard took three wickets each.
Multan Sultans, which are contesting for the first time in PSL are at first place with seven points on the points table. Sultans have played five matches and won three games and lost one against Islamabad United. Their one fixture against Karachi Kings was washed out. Peshawar Zalmi are at third place with six points. They have won three out of five matches and lost two games against Karachi kings and Multan Sultans.
