Under the chief minister’s Education Sector Reforms Programme, more than ninety per cent textbooks up to matric have been handed over to the Programme Monitoring and Implementation Unit (PMIU) for free distribution among the students of public sector schools.
Addressing a meeting, Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) Secretary Sajjad Ahmad Khan said timely provision of textbooks to the students was the top priority of the board.
He said PCTB was working expeditiously for printing/publishing of remaining 6 to 7 per cent textbooks in the light of the Lahore High Court directives.
He said the PCTB had made efforts to reduce cost of textbooks through prioritise SLOs in class-I curriculum. He said all the textbooks would be available before the start of new academic year.
