Bad medicine

This refers to the news report ‘Chief justice swears there’s no political agenda’ (Feb 28). That the chief justice wants to counter the problems being faced by the poor – including the unavailability of potable water basic healthcare facilities – is a positive step. While hearing the case pertaining to the astronomical increase in the price of medicines, the CJP asserted that it is time something is done to ensure the welfare of the people.

In the same manner, the CJP should look into the matter of the sale of spurious medicines across Balochistan. In the province, the sale of counterfeit medicines is at its peak. While the provincial government and other relevant authorities are ignoring the matter, this illegal business is playing a major role in jeopardising the lives of thousands of people. Residents are now looking for a competent authority that will take notice of this illegal business and bring criminals to book.
