Zubair, Saeed in IC Trophy Tennis C’ship final

KARACHI: Zubair Raja and Abdul Saeed reached the final of men’s singles in IC Trophy Tennis Championship at Union Club here on Wednesday.

Zubair beat Danish Raza 6-1, 5-2 (retired) and Saeed defeated M Ali 7-6, 7-6, 10-8 in the semi-finals.

Zubair had beaten Azhar Ahmed 6-2, 6-0 in the quarter-final. In the under-17 semi-finals, Zubair beat Mazhar Hayat 6-4, 6-1 and M Ali defeated Ahmed Ehtasham 7-6, 1-0 (rtd).

In the first round of men’s doubles, M Ali and Fawad beat Hasnain Khurram and Danish 8-2, while Robin Das and Anil Das defeated Danish Waheed and Oaunddin Syed 8-4.

In the soft tennis doubles first round, Anil Das and Robin Das beat M Fawad and Danish Raza 5-2, and Aqeel and Raheel Shabbir beat Hussain and Sarim 5-3. In the soft tennis quarter-finals, M Ali beat Ahmed Ehtasham 5-0.
