Players backed by MPCL do well at ITF World Juniors
KARACHI: Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) sponsored the training of Mahin Aftab Qureshi and Huzaifa Abdul Rehman and both players performed well in ITF World Juniors Tournament which concluded last week in Islamabad.
Mahin qualified for both doubles and singles final and won the doubles title. Mahin is currently National Junior Under-16 Champion, who has improved 310 places in world ranking.
Huzaifa progressed to the semi-finals, beating the top seed Ahmed Zayan of Great Britain in quarter-finals. He finished as Asian No 2 in Under 14 category.Huzaifa has trained in Potter’s Wheel Tennis Academy, Beijing, under supervision of Carlos Rodriguez, one of the top coaches in the world.
Moreover, he participated in a couple of ITF Juniors tournaments each in the UAE and Kenya. Mahin, with her improved rankings, has qualified for two ITF events to be held in Qatar, starting from March 16. She has also qualified for two ITF events to be held in Birmingham from April 14.
In May this year, she will enter Beirut ITF World Juniors. Mahin is also scheduled to play two or three ITF events in Bangkok in May and June.MPCL CEO Lt Gen Ishaq Nadeem Ahmed (Retd) has congratulated the two players over their successes and has promised continuous support of MPCL to the budding stars of Pakistan tennis.
