Jailed PTI minority MPA to take oath before Senate election
PESHAWAR: Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Asad Qaiser Friday issued production order of the minority legislator Baldev Kumar to Home and Tribal Affairs Department so that he may be administered oath as member of the provincial assembly.
In his production order, the speaker directed the Home and Tribal Affairs Department for bringing Baldev Kumar to the provincial assembly on February 26, 2018. Baldev Kumar is behind the bars for last two years as accused in the murder of late adviser to KP CM Sardar Soran Singh. He was No.2 on the priority list of the PTI for minority reserved seat on the basis of which the ECP had notified him as minority MPA on the vacant seat. However, he has not taken oath as MPA so far.
The Peshawar High Court (PHC) had issued orders for administering oath to Baldev Kumar as member of the KP Assembly and in the light of the same order, the speaker has issued his production order. The oath will enable the minority MPA to cast vote in the upcoming Senate election.
