PM, Shahbaz discuss NAB action against Ahad Cheema
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said Pakistan cannot tolerate a confrontation and “we all will have to work for public welfare and national development”.
In a meeting with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in Model Town on Friday, he discussed with him matters of mutual interest, political situation and party matters. Sources revealed that the matter of NAB’s action against Ahad Cheema also came under discussion. The chief minister said the PML-N always followed the rule of law. He said the supremacy of law and Constitution would have to be ensured to move further and the government would carry on mission of public service and prosperity.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal called on Shahbaz Sharif. Different matters of mutual interest, including steps taken for the eradication of terrorism and political issues, came under discussion. Both the leaders expressed satisfaction over positive steps taken for bringing an improvement in law and order in Punjab.
The CM said terrorism, fanaticism and sectarianism were not the fate of people and in the Pakistan of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, there was no room for such menaces. The Pakistani nation gave tremendous sacrifices in the war against terrorism and its commitment and passion was much bigger than the challenge of terrorism. It was satisfying that the coordinated implementation of the National Action Plan broke the backbone of terrorists. He said Pakistan would be made a haven of peace by decisively defeating terrorism. Every person would have to play his role to maintain law and order in the country. He said the people of all provinces including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir would equally benefit from the CPEC.
Later, MPs from different districts called on the CM. Talking to them, Shahbaz said the present tenure of the PML-N government was filled with records of institutional transparency, public service and honesty. This promotion of transparency by the government had been acknowledged at the global level.
He said the PML-N government took effective measures for the eradication of corruption. On the other side, national resources were honestly used by considering them a sacred trust. The Punjab government set a new record by saving Rs 682 billion in different projects.
He said a particular party tried to impede the journey of development through sit-ins, lockdowns and agitation. That party did nothing for public welfare in its province and due to it, the leaders of that party could not face people in their province. He said people were fed up with the elements involved in politics of chaos and those obstructing national development. In fact, the politics of allegations and falsehood died down before records of public service, honesty and transparency. Those who called on the CM included MNAs Nadeem Abbas Rabera and Raja Muhammad Javed and MPA Sardar Muhammad Jamal.
