KP’s ‘ideal police’ rough up lady reporter
PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Mehsud Tuesday took notice of manhandling of a Geo lady reporter by the police at the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) and directed the CPO to investigate the incident and submit a report as soon as possible.
The lady reporter was performing her professional duties at the hospital when the police and security guard not only stopped her from performing her duty, but also snatched her cellphone and pushed and shoved her.
The Khyber Union of Journalists condemned the police attitude and demanded that the IGP take action against the police misbehaviour. Geo reporter Shiba Haider was covering a public rally there when the police manhandled the lady and snatched her cellphone. The security guards stopped her from covering the occasion and pushed her out.
Secretary health has also taken notice of the incident and directed the LRH administration to take action against the culprits. The hospital security in charge has been suspended.
